Playtime Tolworth caters for children from 3 months - 5years, we have two separate rooms a baby/toddler area that caters for children up to 2 1/2yrs- 3yrs and a pre-school room that caters for children from 2 1/2 yrs - 5yrs depending on their development.

Baby/Toddler area

This area is self contained and comprises of a play space which is divided into zones with a separate area for the non-walking babies.

Our high ratio of nursery practitioners to children ensures that each child recieves expert care and attention as well as plenty of hugs and cuddles.

All children are encouraged to learn through play and are given opportunities to explore through a wide range of experiences.

As their concentration, interest and imagination develop so singing and story time, music and role play will also form part of their day.

Nursery practitioners in this room plan activities both indoors and outdoors around the children's individual needs and interests. They support the children to be happy, keen and confident learners.

Toddler/ Pre-school

In this area the nursery practitioner's introduce the children to a more structured approach to learning through play.

Nursery education is provided and practitioners plan educational programmes which include activities that encourage all children to become active, inquisitive and independent learners.

Throughout the pre-school phase children are encouraged to develop skills that will prepare them well for their transition to school.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

The nursery uses the Early Years Foundation Stage framework (EYFS). This framework helps practitioners to support the development and learning of every child.

We value you as parents as your child's first educators and love to hear what they are doing at home so we send home learning journeys where you can contribute to your child's learning and find out what they have been doing at nursery. We build partnerships with you to ensure that every child is happy, healthy, safe and successful.

The nursery plans experiences tailored  to every child's individual needs, interests and stages of development, this is done from observation and assessment.

 Outdoor facilities

The nursery has a large outdoor play area where your child will be encouraged to develop physically and explore the natural outdoor environment. Planned outdoor teaching opportunities are also provided for the pre-school children.

Childcare team

Excellent staff are the most important element of any nursery. Our staff have been selected on the basis of their qualifications, professional experiences and development as well their dedication to providing the highest standard of childcare.

Our recruitment process includes an interview, references and a criminal records bureau check (CRB).

We believe in encouraging our staff to continue with their professional development by attending training through the local authority and further education such as foundation degrees, B.A honours and Early Years Professional Status (EYPS)
